Here is my boat...Pic one...pic two...pic 3

my question is can I, without sacrificing stability, put more decking in the boat? Basically, extend the front of the deck back to the console and maybe put some side decking in. It is a starcraft 84 15 feet long. thanks guys...

I wouldn't think bringing the decking back would be a problem. Side decking may be, just from a balance standpoint. I've been in smaller boats that have more decking, so it should work.

You might try getting a couple milk-crate style boxes, place them where you want the deck and test it out the next time you are fishing.

Re: Bass Boat Deck

The milk crates will be roughly the height of your deck. Turn them upside down and position them where you would like more decking. Go fishing. Stand on the milk crates to check the stability of your boat.

Re: Bass Boat Deck

the milk crates are just for testing to see how stable the boat will be. i would use 1/2 inch plywood for the deck, and 2x2 framing underneath. you can screw them together.
