The batter stepped out of the box when swinging and was called out. The 1st baseman simply threw it to third out of shear joy.

The batter didn't see the ball bounce, and assumed that the first baseman caught it on the fly. He assumed that he was out, and walked off the field of play. Because of this, he was called out by the ump.

There are a few more examples if the putout was not made at third, so we need a clarification. Was the final out made at third?
