Re: Baitcaster 101 please

I had a chance today to advance to baitcaster 102. I stopped by the sporting goods store yesterday to pick up a couple lures for today's outing..... well, you guys know how it is. On an impulse I picked up a Shimano Curado reel with a 5:1 ratio. It was a tad windy today and I actually got to play with the magnetic brakes a bit. COOOOOL! really helped. Oh, and got a 3lb trout using a 6" plastic dropshot looking for bass! :p

i just got a bait caster last year, and the only way you get better is to practice. go out side tie a weight to the end of youy line and just practice you cast. tighten the drag control at first. that will make it harder to birds nest.

Re: Baitcaster 101 please

here's my .02 i love my "tear drop" baitcaster, im no pro at it just yet but its more comfy when your fishing for 3+ hrs. i see the old scoll barrel caster more for deep sea fishing/ off shore fishing. i dont know the makers of mine but i got it for like 50 bucks at gander mtn. :) :D then spend 20 bucks on an ugly stick lol

i hope this helps :)
