Bail-o-matic on McCULLOCH

Hey kids I just restored a 1957 Hult craft wood boat. It has a 45hp McCULLOCH outboard with a hose coming out just below engine housing with a Scott Bail-a-matic attached to the end. It was just sitting in the engine well. Any clue on what is is/does.

So I imagine it uses vacuum from the motor to pump. I figured that was the deal but it’s not long enough to actually go in the bilge.

It does not use vacuum.-----Most of them used 2 impellers !!----One to provide cooling water to engine.----One to pump out leaky cedar strip boats.----Remember the 50's and 60's were a simpler time.
