I bought this boat on thursday,1983 Rinker,21' with a 4.3 liter Mercruiser, with every intention of removing all the parts, and scraping the boat.I picked it up today, and started really looking at it,and to me,i really think it might be fixable. Its got a rotten transom, and needs the floors replaced.I only paid $400.00 for it.Bought it from my bosses daughter. The engine runs great, doesnt smoke, leak anything,I have a spare out drive thats for my other boat.Heres some pictures of it.I value all of your opinions, and know you will all steer me in the right direction.

Other then the transom problem, and the soft floors,I think this might be a keeper,What do you think??

Sounds like you got a deal. Usually it's the engine that's shot. Replacing a transom is not particularly difficult, it just takes a lot of work. Fix it and go boating.

there will be more than that rotten. If you are going to scrap the boat anyhow just rip up the floor and see if the stringers are rotten too.

Pretty much guarantee the stringers are shot as well. If you are up for the work you can fix it all for not too much. Count on about 200 hours. You might be able to leave in the wall for the cuddy and slip the floor under it. I just did that on a 21' double eagle.

You certainly got a good deal on this one....with a good engine, you're just in need to wood replacment which is work, but I think well worth it. Your gelcoat is badly faded but that's just some compound and a weekend worth of buffing.

The stringers, deck and transom are (as said earlier) a good bit of work, but very doable. Just do a search here and read, read, read. You'll find all you need to know. When you get down to specific questions just post them here and all will be answered.

Good luck with your restoration.....

Thanks guys for your opinions,I bought it for the reason of reselling the engine, and trailer, and using some of the other parts on my 18' thompson.I have plenty of time,so I am going to take all of your advice, and pull the floor out,and see how the underside looks,i will post some pictures of that so I can get some more opinions.I am going to start pulling the motor out,get it ready today, and then use the tow truck boom to get it out of the boat, its gotta come out for all the repairs anyway.I will keep ya all updated.I have always wanted a boat with a cuddy.Just a rough estimate, what do you think the cost will be in materials,if everything is shot, just a rough estimate.

Rough Guess-ti-Mate $1,500 - $2,000 and 100-150 man hours.

Well, got further into it,and it needs a total floor replacement, stringer, transom, basically a total rebuild.I don't think I am going to tackle this project, its alot more then I wanna get involved in,so I am going to part it out,and keep alot of the part that will go into my boat, like the trim pump, cylinders, blower, ect. Thanks for all the replys
