ok so i dropped off my boat at the marina because the power trim wasnt working. they said they couldnt fix it because they are not a mercury authorized dealer. the motor is a 1990 135 black max. if i push the switch on the motor i hear it hum and if i have a friend help me lift it it will go up. there is fluid leaking out of the middle tilt ram and the orings are shot. however i cannot for the life of me get the fill cap off. its almost stripped. the motor is currently in the up position but yet i cannot get the cap off. anyone out there now what the next step is besides fixing the orings??? how do i get that damn cap off to fill the resevoir?

thank you!

Isn't that the plastic cap with the screwdriver slot? Can you grap it with vicegrips? Can you grind a new slot with a dremel? Second choice is an easyout.
