Backslash on the steering wheel

Dear fellow boaters,

I have an Bayliner 215 bowrider from 2003/2004 (the classic) with the 5.0 mercruiser engine.
And I noticed a backslash in the stearingwheel of about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

Do anyone know how to solve this prob?

well right off hand I would guess its wear in the steering gears or the cable
