I have a 2008 Pathfinder 2200V. 200 hp V-Max with a 4 blade prop.
This boat is new to me. Been boating since the 60's so not a newbie.
I cannot back this boat off the trailer. For that matter, it wont back up in current or wind. Almost got slapped up against the wall at the landing the other day. Very troubling issue.
Any one else run up against this? There has to be a fix for this. There are a ton of these boats out there and everyone would be hollering if they had this issue. Appreciate any advice you may give.
Thanks, gew19

Looked your boat up and looks like a very shallow draft center console.
Your not getting enough bite in reverse. The motor setup is probably high for max speed, and the prop is designed for forward only movement.

If you have or would install and jack plate, could get it lower for backing

Just my guess

I've heard that tilting the motor up on those (like way up) helps. It has to do with how the hull interacts with water at the stern (if I followed the dude who I talked to correctly). But - I've never run a boat like that myself, so take that into account. 🙃

Yea, I must have talked to the same guy. I've tried that and had no real improvement that I could tell. I am looking at the trim tabs now. wondering if re-centering them will help before backing. I am also going to talk to a prop guy to see if a worn prop would effect this. Hey, thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

I never saw anyone back off a trailer. Some of us push the boats off and the rest float them off. I guess our ramps bust be pretty good.
