Backfire

I recenty purchased a 2002 vip 2102 with the VP 5.0 GL. Starts and idles fine. Seems to drag getting on plane and backfires thru carb at cruising speed. Replaced headgaskets impeller and fuel pump. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,.... Backfires are usually caused by a lean condition,......

I'd start by examinin' the Contents of the fuel filter for clues,......

I forgot to mention i also repaced the fuel filter also
