I was thinking of attending an auction this weekend that has advertised an older 18ft fiberglass runabout and tandem trailer. From my preliminary inspection, the boat and inboard motor are useless and the trailer has flats with many wires hanging from the frame. Therefore, I believe not too many folks if any will be bidding on it. I know this can easily turn into a situation where I end up biting off more than I can chew but I was thinking of picking it up (if the price is right) just to have the trailer to convert it into a utility trailer. Although I would only use the boat for a bon fire, I am scratching my head on how I would get the thing home which is about 25miles from the auction.

Also, does anyone know if I have to pay to have the title of the boat transferred even though I plan to scrap it?

Helpful advice appreciated

Kevin

Hopefully the tires would air up if you bring along a portable air tank. Otherwise, you will have to get some cheap tires, tires off a car that would fit the lug pattern or borrow some from someone to get it home(Maybe a friendly Marina). You will have to register it, so that it does not remain in the auction holders name. But that should be almost nothing, if you buy it for a song. Don't know the laws in your state, so I really can't offer any more info. You might try a web search to look them up. There might be a loophole that may help...

After a better second look on the auction day, I decided it wasn't worth loosing some good fishing time over by all the work that had to go into it.
