Re: Assistance with 86 26'
Hi Guys,
Well all i can say is never trust a seller, see my story below.
K, i was to see this thing on Tues, after many emails to this guy i wanted to make sure we could get to it due to the snow issues and the time we were to meet. Seller assured me this was not a problem all was a go.
So.. i get to the location of the marina it was at, i pull into the drive and guess what, marina was closed! 1st strike, the seller is not there yet. So i called the marina number, yard master picks up and says yes we are closed, im like crap here we go, so i explain the sistuation to him which he was very understanding and said as long as the seller owns the boat and can proove it he will let us in.
Now i call the seller who is on his way,i did not tell him that i talked with the marina master, seller says oh, i thought they would be open, 2nd strike!
then he says well we can just jumpe the fence and go in, i said um...NO. Next i call master back, i said not sure about this seller he wants to just jump the fence, master says i can see you from where he sits and said he will prosecute if we do. Ok, good thing i called, so seller shows up, crap this is a 17 year old kid, this does not look good.
Master comes up to the gate and wants to see proof he owns the boat, luckily kid had title. Then master lets us stating to me if there are any owed money on the storage fees i would have to pay for that to get the boat out and that i cant do anything with it until all bills are paid. So i look at this kid and say do you owe anything, he looks at me and says yes my dad has not paid for a couple years. 3rd strike. So i did not say anything but that i would deduct this from the price. We get back to where the boat is sitting, mind you there is 3-4 feet of snow all around this thing. difficult to get to it for sure, 4th strike. Now we truck the snow and get to the back of it, outboard not covered that i noticed, from what i was told this should be done, ok moved past that. Now the boat has a torn up tarp cover on it tied down in several areas, I thoguht well thats good. We try to remove the cover but....the inside cabin area was so full of snow you could not even get in. 5th strike.
Now at this point i could see some of the outside and it looks very rough, i said no way will i buy this thing without being able to get in. Kid says well this is a great price and he assured me it was in great shape. I told him i will not do until it can be checked. Kid gets all ticked off hops in his truck and leaves, mater comes to me and said please come back to the office he wanted to talk with me.
I get there and he informs me that boat has been sitting there for 3 years! no sticker or anything stating it has been winterized etc, and the fact hat there is a delinquint payment of over 1000.00 for storage fees etc. He also stated that he knows that this thing was not worth 2k, and that i should not trust this kid.
So after all the prelimanary talk with this seller and all the good things he mentioned, great shape, well takin care of, winterized, etc. This is what i got, nothin but a waste of time and gas.
So, my advise is never trust anyone without checking into there claims b4 hand.
