Re: Are Crownline decent boats???
Wayne doesn't like me because he thinks I don't know anything about boats, and I regularly call his BS out on these forums.
You're welcome to listen to me or not listen to me. I have certainly been on enough boats, test driven enough boats, and looked at enough boats to form an opinion that I can type out here.
Wayne has been banned (repeatedly, I might add, including IP Banned) from the Bayliner Owners Club for being belligerent, immature, and lacking any positive contributions to the club. He never posts technical information because he has none. And him saying I know nothing about boats is like the pot calling the kettle black. That's all I am going to say on the subject, but suffice to say anything he shoots HIS mouth off on tends to get locked, quickly. I see his reputation isn't much better over here.
Lets get back on topic and ignore the, uh, special people for a second. I like all the boats mentioned, but I like some more than others. Of all the ones mentioned, I least like Crownline. I have my opinions on why, and can back it up with intelligent and reasonable arguements, but I don't want to threadcrap. PM me if you want to know why.
Sea Ray is a safe choice, and high quality. However, I do feel they (along with CL) are a little overrated, especially when you look at the price. Lots of "supplier" type hardware, etc. Nothing wrong with it, just a little dear in the MSRP....
I think Chaparral earns their reputation and are slightly above Sea Ray. Stuff like gauges and some hardware is bespoke, and they obviously are built to a slightly higher standard than Sea Ray and Crownline.
If you want to own a boat that is first class all the way, I'd go Cobalt. The price difference between a CHap and a Cobalt is not particularly ghastly, and the quality difference is OBVIOUS.
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
