Needed to pull the motor to put in a new fuel tank. Pulled the outdrive too.
Found milky oil in the drive bellows (and outdrive).
Got an estimate of over $600 labor to reseal the outdrive if I take it to them.

1) Is this a fair price?
2) Could I do this job myself - I have above average mechanical ability and a well outfitted shop.
3) What are the vacuum and pressure specs for the AQ250 outdrive?

It has been suggested I also replace the bearing in the flywheel cover as long as the motor is out. I see the assembly in my factory outdrive manual, but no instructions? Are these available somewhere else?

1. yes, for a complete reseal, including the upper gear box.
2. Resealing the upper gear box requires bearing preload and shimming. Can be done, I've never attempted it.
3. I think 10-15 psi overnight is plenty.

Yes, change out the flywheel cover bearings. There is not much help in the manual for this, but it's fairly straight forward. If you search around, its been described many times by myself and others.

Mechanical ability and a well equipped shop is great, but experiance plays a bigger role in that equation...
