its a custom made volvo penta part. its made out of a chunk of steel and 3 metal lines (3/8" brake lines) that are brazed together.

so to re-make, you can buy 3/8" brake lines and fire up the tubing bender and the tubing cutter. you will need to use an oxy-acc torch to de-braze the 3 tubes from the existing union and re-braze the new tubes.

I just threw the one I modified for use with a carb spacer away as I am now running a BBC.

BTW, factory carb for a 271C is a holley 4150, 715 CFM vacuum secondary. List number 80309

Holley carbs have a few different fuel inlet configurations, depending on the actual carb used. When I was working on a 4160 conversion on my OMC V6 I was able to find a preformed fuel line that worked perfect, a bit pricey though...

keep in mind the fuel pump on the V6 is upside down vs the V8 pumps, not sure if this will line up exactly right, but if you're not into bending up your own it might work....the 4bbl one is still available...
looking at the Volvo parts catalog on this site, I think Scott is right, it seems they used the 4150 as original equipment in some years and also listed the Quadrajet as well, so if you have a 4160 someone replaced either one of those over the years with the 4160. Post up a pic of what you have, Holley has many many variations.

Hi Thanks for your replies I've added a few pictures of the carb and the pipe. Il have a look at the 4150 as well,
It looks like the pipe has been shaped via bending
Cheers be interesting to hear what you think

that is a 600 CFM holley 4160 (what should be on a 4.3 V6). someone replaced the 715 CFM holley 4150.

you are not making anywhere near the factory power of 275hp.

Better than a 2bbl though. Was there an adapter on the intake manifold? looks like a q-jet pattern gasket there on top of the Holly style one. Sierra also makes a flex fuel hose you can use its pricey but makes the hook up easier. That 4160 has the same fuel line hook up as mine so that fuel pipe I linked above MAY work. That carb looks like it really needs to be gone though, at least it is really a marine unit. I think some of the VP V8s also used the 4175 spread bore which was supposed to be a Quadrajet replacement.

Nice one cheers Yeah there was an adapter il get a picture of that. My plan was to overhaul the carb and refit. Obviously its not the correct carb but its been on there sometime. Can you see any long term effects using this carb apart from not making the hp cheers

The main thing is to make sure the jetting is correct so that it’s not running lean which can cause engine damage over time. A 600 cfm carb is more than adequate for a 5.0 V8. Check spark plug center electrode insulator color to judge.

the 740 used a 850 CFM 4175

stock manifold was a square bore, stock carb is a square bore. using an adapter and a small carb will run, however you are just down on power.

Looking at the indentation on the base gasket looks like part of of the inlet manifold has been blocked cheers again for all your advice
