I did get the new belt for an 82 Volvo 242DL, didn't get a pulley, but I noticed as I rotated the engine manually that there were spots that the belt were nice and tight, and at one point loose enough to slide it off without loosing the tensioner pulley. I would really prefer to rebuild this engine, but fear the dollars involved. I would think if it was the pulley, it would jump before the cam pulley after the idler. There is a little rust on the main bearing pulley, but the teeth don't look rounded or worn around the edges. I will hit the rusted areas with some steel wool and see what that does.
