Was digging on the internet to try find a copy of G3 (no dice :mad:) when I ran into this thing: https://www.obdstarstore.com/wholesale/obdstar-iscan-mercury-marine-diagnostic-tool.html

I am curious if anyone has actually tried it and if it actually does all the stuff that it advertises. If not then I guess I will be the guinea pig on it. Kinda need it for setting the cityId, changing alpha to bravo, and doing all the axius stuff that diacom can't.

Be careful because in general reading of that site, that scanner appears to only be able to read (handle) Mercury Outboards and not MerCruiser stern drives.

Plus I'm far from spelling and grammar police but I noticed a word misspelled where it seems it would be needed most to determine if it will work for your engine application or not.

Number 2 below says (but no limited to) missing the T for not?

Diagnostic support series

1. Support all models in G3, including DFI 2, Optimax, Seapro, Verado, 40HP-300HP Engines and other models;
2.The support modules include but no limited to Engines (DIESEL and Gasoline), Joystick, Lever and Helm Control Module, Lever Configuration, Service System, Thrust Vector Control Module and other modules.

This may not be of much help but if you just wanted to read the live data of the engine there is a place or 3 that rents out the diacom system on ebay.

@silver_power has come a long way with the axius set ups if you've been following at all and might be of some help if needed.

Interesting. I checked the compatability list and it has almost 2800 line items. Looks like it does all Merc and Mercruisers

Do have to buy adapter cables too for $25, but one is a Mercruiser Cable.

Looks like it can ship from US.

If you try it out, let us know how it does.

Also it's a subscription tool, so have to pay every year to keep it working

Rinda will be cheaper in the long run and it works on all most everything, but does use different adapters

Oh, I have diacom for some time now, I was looking for something to extend my capabilities. Diacom is good for diagnostics, thats it. When I swap out an ecm on a 40 foot boat in my yard, I don't want to have to pay to have a 40 foot boat taken to the dealer just to set an engine configuration!!! At that point all the expensive diagnostic tools begin to make sense.
