Tools required, 1/4"drive - 10" extension, 7/16 snapon swivel socket
step 1: have a few drinks, this one will test your patients.
Trun drive all the way to right to gain access to the bolt holding the cables in, drive in down position. Soak with penetrating oil. Easy enough to remove bolt, if you keep slipping off turn socket a little and try again. mine came out pretty easy, cant say yours will also. Disconnect wires on the inside, and yank them out.
Installation - get the orientation for the senders and their wires sorted out, and now get a coat hanger wire. push both wires up through the hole. my was easier because I have a solder connection on one of them inside the boat where it ties into the factory wire harness, and was able to cut off the push type connectors. once you get both wires into the boat take the two ends from both wires about 2" from the end and tie them together, make the knot as big as a nickle or so it wont go back thru the hole. you will need this pig tail to get the wires back into the boat easily. back out at the outdrive, pull the slack back to the knot you made out to the left side of the drive. here comes the patients part. you will need some small hands and or some long grabbing tools. get the two halves of the plug oriented with each other and tie a rubberband (tape, whatever, just on the wires though) on the inside portion of the plug. get the clamp on the wire and now use some tape to hold it in place on the wire. pull the whole thing back up into the socket very slowly while having someone watch and guild the clamp so it doesnt fall off. once its up there use you coat hanger to align the hole for the bolt. reinstall and tighten. Did the whole thing in about 3hrs by myself after dropping the clamp about 4 times. could probably do it in an hour with help. I will do my other drive once it fails or i find some senders cheap.
