We had 75* last friday so saturday morning me and my partner picked up our boat from my inlaws garage, brought it home, parked it in the driveway, got all excited about preparing it and launching after 4 months parked and... Monday- Snow, wednesday-Snow:facepalm: All together, we had a foot of the wet stuff on our new snap on canvas! Fortunately I was able to gently knock it all off and no damage!

I spent the morning fixing various things on it in the driveway, but all together, I think I jinxed us:( Last year we were in by 3/27 but today is 30* and windy so not a desirable or safe IMO first outing day:mad:

Re: Anyone pull their boat out too early?

2 years ago i did. got out on the lake at end of march. maybe got to splash it twice then the weather went south for the whole month of april. 30 days it sat there unused and i'd summerized it...:(

last year i was more carefull. got away with beginning of april and the weather lasted.

this year, i'm still winterized. snow is fore cast for today. we had them nice 70-80 degree days here a few days ago. i resisted the urge. did spring maint. to her instead... don't look like i'm gonna get out till closer to mid april at this point in looking at the long range forecast. :(

anyways. brush the snow off her. if ya ran it. drain all the water out again and you'll be ok till the season gets here. which hopefully will be soon..

I had mine out the first week of April. It was the first time since I bought the boat. I had it service on Feb 1 , trailer too. So I was bitin the bit to see how my boat ran. It was a good day. It runs really well, It's a 60 hp Mercury 2 stroke. 1990 model on a 16 ft fisher bass boat. I am real pleased with it's performance. Now it's been raining and very windy since my first outing. There's rain and wind forecast for another week yet. I'm anxious to say the least to get it on the water again.

GTOchris,

I have my boat at Lake Hopatcong lastyear also. This year have it at Morgan in Raritan bay. But I did take off the tarp and reconnected everything last friday when it was nice. Dropped off the boat at Morgan to get bottom painted and then the snows hit. Was disappointed and it won't be in the 50's till next weekend. So I am bummed as you are.

Well at least we don't have hurricanes or tornados where I live.

Nope, just unpredictable earthquakes (ca for California?)... and a really really short boating season. And if ca stands for Canada.... well... 'nuff said! :D

Re: Anyone pull their boat out too early?

Was at the marina on Saturday and spoke to the owner. We went over the pre-launch punch list and I left him my new GPS and FF to install, along with another wad of cash.

We're hoping to splash in 4 or 5 weeks, but we'll see. Daytime temps are only getting into the mid-40's and overnights are still in the low-mid 30's. We had a 60+ deg. 'teaser' weekend a couple weeks ago and everybody got all excited. Grrr...
