They showed that on Modern Marvels of History Channel. laddiesservice is right on what it is. It mines other minerals besides coal. Aweeesoooom machine. They had to put dirt on the road because of the tremendous weight of the machine. It would have destroyed the road.

The one pictured is in the Tagebau Garzweiler mine in Germany.<br />Here is another shot of it.<br />

It is one of the biggest open mining machine in the world. In fact I think IT IS the biggest. You should watch Modern Marvel and see what it can do.
