Anyone know a good source for access hatches?

I've tried here on iboats, no luck. I'm looking for a pair of them, 16x23 or so. Seems like half the places think you should be selling your firstborn for them. Tried eBay, but only singles, and need to get a mated pair. If anyone knows an inexpensive source I'd appreciate. <br /><br />=Roger

You can order them from cabelas. I don't know about quality but they have several choices. You can get just the hatch or a combination hatch and dry storage. Just a thought.

It may take a little while but you should be able to find them on Ebay. They come up all the time. If the seller is one of those ever-so-popular ebay businesses, send them email and let them know you need two. You’re likely to get them. :) But shop price…not everything on ebay is such a good deal anymore.

I bought a pair a while back on ebay. Pairs isn't hard to find its the size thats the biotch.<br />Just search "hatch" in the boat parts section.<br />I didn't see much on there at this time.<br />Check out the seller "greatlakesskipper". You can do a search for the seller by his name above.<br />Check out his "Ebay store". If you don't see anything you like e-mail him.<br />Hatches are expensive and BPS, Cabelas and West Marine have a poor selection at premium prices.

FWIW, I have passed on items sold by ‘greatlakesskipper’, due in part to the feedback left by others and in part to his response to the negative feedback. I have also communicated via email with buyers that felt compelled to leave negative feedback for ‘greatlakesskipper’. I will not buy from him. Maybe he is a great seller and I am missing out on some real bargains. But then, there are just too many other sellers on ebay to have to take a chance on that one.

Thanks guys. No luck at BassPro or Cabela's for the sizes I need. <br /><br />I've dealt with "greatlakesskipper" before. He's no bargain, and god forbid that you get the wrong thing (my experience) But I'll leave that alone..<br /><br />-Roger

If you are replacing hatches it might be easier overall to go with the same manufacturer as the original ones. If you are adding new hatches, these are good stuff:<br /><br /> http://www.bomon.com/hatch.htm

18rabbit,<br />You're right about greatlakesskipper. I bought a set of pedestal seat hardware from them. They screwed up and sent me only one set when I had ordered 3. I finally got what I paid for, but only after I called them. <br />-Joe

hey CCrew,<br /><br />not sure what kinda hatches your looking for. but if your looking for floor or deck hatchs, the Tempress ones are what i run on the front deck of my bass boat and they are very, very nice.. they make liners for them too.. not cheap, but excellent quality. i also see them for under-seat access on a lot of the bigger boats.<br /><br /> http://www.cabelas.com/information/Boating/TempressUtilityHatchesandLiners.html <br /><br />if you where looking for something different, my apologies..

Re: Anyone know a good source for access hatches?

i walk on my tempress hatchs and they hold up fine. they do flex just a tad. i wouldn't want to jump on em or anything with my svelt 240 lbs! but yeah, they're pretty tough.. and very well made. watertight too... i run the biggest ones they make...<br /><br />i have 2 side by side on my front deck, one with a liner setup as a livewell. the other just as an access to the underside of the deck..
