Here in Tennesse we are opening a hunting season for you jetski/pwc people. It's may-aug 2002, and there is no limit.

It appears you have over populated and something just had to be done.

It's too bad Tennessee is being so restrictive; up here in Washington (the one in the upper left hand corner of your map and pronounced with only 1 R), it's open season all year round. May thru October, calibers limited to .50, November thru April, nothing larger than 48mm mortars ....although to be fair, there aren't a lot of pickins' in December.
The rules and regulations are at:

www.pickoffamoroninwarshington.com

Here in Oklahoma we have a year-round season with no creel limits. You can even bait a hole if you want. I find that if you put a really cheap boom box with lots of distortion on the beach it helps. First you want to play some really cruddy music played by people with no talent. There is a real benefit to this. The game cannot hear the noise of the gunshots this way. If you can hit them just as they become air borne off your wake others will come up and say things like, "Awesome wipe out dude!" or " Wow, you really buried it on that one." This gives you an easy follow up shot on the others since they tend to congregate just a few yards off your stern. We have not found a recipe yet that works well. We even asked a Cajun friend and he said they were worse then Nutria in taste. If you chop them up a bit the bigger catfish seem to like them but that is a species not know for its culinary discretion. There seems to be a sub-breed of the PWC sometimes. They often boat around with complete respect for others and follow the rules and regulations of boating. You can often engage this sub-species in conversation and they seem like perfectly nice people. Sadly this species is getting its reputation ruined by the more prevelent species that can make a weekend on the lake seem like a weekend on the interstate road system. I think with proper game management technique the nicer sub-species will take over as they never seem to come close enough for a good shot.

Great reply Parrothead,

Actually this year instead of shooting them I may try catching them with say my 30 lb. saltwater gear.

Play them to the boat and give them a quick dispatch with a baseball bat.

Snag fishing for PWC is not allowed in Oklahoma. The way I understand it is that often times they would run with the line and foul up other boats.

The best site for PWC is the junk yard.

If you are knew to the water learn the laws..and use your head.

Hey. I love these replies. Tomorrow my son and I are going to get our very 1st PWC. A very used waverunner. So far I haven't snagged a PWC pilot but I keep adding weight to my lures to see if I can catch one. I just think that if I can cast far enough to catch one then he is too close.

Sailboaty,

I agree. I own both a boat and a jet ski and use both following the rules and regulations (never been close enough to recieve that kill shot). Heck my rescue squad even uses them while preforming dive rescues (a great rapid response vechicle)... Much like snowboarders and "crotch rocket" motorcyclist a few can tarnish a whole group in a hurry.

If a jetskier is breaking rules and regs. call in his reg #,play nice, and maybe the world can become a better place. I have been cut off more than once (while I CLEARLY had the right away), cut in front of at the boat ramp, and (litterly cut off in the water and chased by a boater intent on ramming me for no other reason than I was on the same lake as him (I had my 6 yr old niece with me so I was being very careful and not "raising hell"...just trolling along) all of this while I was on a jet ski.

Sorry for the soap box but comments like: "www.mouthbreatheridiots.com" and "www.pickoffamoroninwarshington.com" do not help (ours as boaters) images at all (oh....by the way, I dive too, :D so I guess the mouth breather may have more truth than I'd like to admit). I'm done venting now.

Down this way the jet skiers are a pain in the arse!
I've come to the conclusion that the only good one is a dead one!
Is there any safety boating rules they don't break?
Ross

the worst thing is, is that I have never bean pulled over or asked to show my certificat. WHY the officers need to check 99% of the people out ther have no clue you need to take that test to evin have an idea what you are doing!

Re: Anyone know a good jetski or PWC websites??

I think the problem with pwc people is that they are not "boat people". They get them because they are cool, and they want to play.

Most do not understand any of the rules of the road so to speak. They get out on the water, and just go wild.

I think that shooting the bad ones will cull them out so that only 'real' boat people will own them. Let's say shoot them all for two years, and the word will get out that it's not all that fun.

Stay off MY wake you idiots or you will taste lead. I'll keep my trusty M-16 onboard just for you.

Some of the comments above are real fuel for the anti gun people. Way to go sports...

I read a comment above, about getting the registration number. How the hell do get with something moving at mach 6?

It's not just the PWC either it's the out-of-town tournament fisherman in their sponsored bassboat with a kazillion hp out board. Do you really need to go that fast to catch a fish?
