Anyone have a Hatch Spring on their boat?

I'm wondering how well these hatch springs work for lifting hatchs, and maybe even use on the windshield windows on my hard top. Check out this PDF from Sea Dog.

I would think the ones you open and twist to lock in position would work better for that application. I'll try and find a picture.

Those would work, but they have no lift action to them. IOW, you do the lifting. I was wondering it the springs actually had any lift action to them, if not, I'll probably go with the gas springs by Taco or Attwood.
