not sure about Mich but I've never seen one in the woods in WI. They are mentioned in our DNR regs but I think it's just a formality in case they decide to come to the Arctic. LOL

They are in pockets in Mi, I have to say the pictures I saw were around the old Packard plant in Detroit.

Re: Anyone gone on a Texas hog hunt?

Speak o' the devil! He looks like a (not so) little General riding a tank :) As fate would have it, I'm getting my first pitbull in a few months! One of my students just had a littler and noticed that I sorta fell in love at first site with one pup in particular. She's smallish, blue (bluenose?) with a little white shield on her chest. I can't wait to bring her home. I honestly never though I could/would want a dog again after my last dog died a few years ago. It crushed me :( But who can resist a squeeky, little, blue-eyed puppy? Not me, obviously :)
I've had other breeds my whole life with great success, but no bullies. Her mom is super sweet, so that's a good sign. Any tips for these little rascals? Also, please tell me it's ok to get her a pink collar and some other girly dog stuff :p

Cleetus was scared of nothing. I've seen him bail off the back of the cart and dash right up and grab a boar with 2-3 inch tusks by the snout, ear, throat.....any where he could grab hold and actually hold the hog down will someone comes, stabs and kills the hog. Its a pretty greusome to watch.

KFA I used to have a blue brindle pit. male. named him Tiger. best dog I had. they can be very sweet but they do have a natural tendency to protect their turf.
socialize her often and early. I had a female pit before the male. She was so well socialized my landlord had a tendency to come into my house while I was at work. he said he loved my "black lab". she never bothered him at all.

My friend told me they are moving into Kentucky now. We have all you want in FL. Sometimes the little ones are caught and "de-maned" then an ear is cut. That way you know which one to shoot out of the pack. You know if you have a bad hog dog cause he won't be coming home. Carry a side arm. You corner one they will hurt you.

My brother had a huge one tied up in the back of the truck. (farmers take them for breed stock) Driving through the wrong part of town and stopped at a light. It jumped out and the light turned green. He just kept going. Must have been a very interesting Friday night.

I was little my dad brought a piglet home. Mom rushed them and he had to shoot it. We lived in town and had a pen for it in the back yard. Ate out of your hand would roll over to get stomach rubs. Had it till a cat jumped in the pen one night at 3 am. Woke up the whole neighborhood. DAd took it to the farm.

A while later at the dinner table my little brother asked " whatever happened to Arnold?" my Dad told him he was eating it.

Great to hear. I've been doing all the reading and research I can find. The consensus seems to be that you get out what you put int. Give them lots of love and you'll get lots of love. Give them lots of hate, you'll get lots of hate. Makes sense, really. Caesar Milan (Dog Whisperer) uses a blue pit named Jr. as his new companion/training dog ever since his old red nose Daddy died a few years ago at the age of 15 :( Thankfully Daddy was alive long enough to get Jr. off to a good start. I'm strictly looking for a companion, nothing fancy or scary. Just a sweetie pie. I've had great luck with other breeds in the past and I've got my two cats to help out :) We all know they really rule the roost. Kitty power!
Btw, I loooooove the Avatar pic. Who is that little monster?

the avatar is a shot from the net. this is her in person. Casey the English Bully. Also have a Boxer an of all things a toy poodle now days.

Pits can be awesome. I was asked by the county dog catcher to bring my female into court show how sweet some pits could be. they were trying to make mandatory ins laws for pit owners at the time, saying they were all vicious and what not. she used to escape once in awhile and the DC would bring her back to the house, after riding around for awhile in the front seat of her truck. LOL I always wondered if she wasn't secretly sneaking her out for joy rides. LOL

thanks, she's a good pup. the most laid back attitude I've ever seen in one of my dogs. LOL The boxer makes up for that though. LOL
