Anyone ever hear of Imperial Boats?

Hi, new to boating and got to say this site is great! I just bought a 1987 Imperial VC200 with a merc 3.0l alpha one. The only way I knew it was a VC200 is you can see the faint outline on the transom where the labels used to be. My question is: whatever happened to Imperial? I can't find any info on the web about them. All searches just come back with Imperial boats for sale (old ones mind you). Did they go bankrupt or perhaps change the name?

I might be wrong but I think they also went under the short name version of IMP, try a google on that.

NADA has a Imperial Marine that made boats from 1973-1991 with the actual company name of All Season Industires PO Box 597 Roanoke, IN 46783

IMP made boats from 1971-2002 IMP Marine PO Box 102 Iola, KS 66749

The there is Imperial Boat Company (1992-1996) 345 15th St NW Barberton, OH 44203

I found your VC200 listed under "Imperial" and it's the All Season Industires out of Indiana. Out of business for 17 years.

Thanks to all. It is a nice beginner boat and I'm sure it will turn me in to a marine mechanic.lol. Hopefully in a couple of years I'll move up to a 25'.

"the boat that busted" was a 1987 Imperial VC200!

Solid, heavy, well built hull!

Hey, that is identical to mine....aside from your nicer seats and instrument panel and I only have one swim ladder. Other than that, bang on. Nice pics. It does seem to be a well built boat. Got her running pretty smooth now thanks to the great info on this site.

I just bought a boat identical to yours. Very nice looking and overall I am happy so far. My boat has a 260 hp V8 merc with an Alpha 1 outdrive. Top speed according to speedometer is only 30 mph. That seems kind of slow to me. Any suggestions? What is your top speeds?

I had a little 4 cylinder. She got up to just about 30 mph.

So i was literally given a Imperial ... not sure what year but it is a mericruiser bowrider... pretty sure 1980 by the color.... as sun faded as it it,,, with that said, any suggestions to resore the colors and what not.... looking to fix her up (even though the trailer its on is worth more than the old girl).

260hp in that size boat should push 50 try changing the prop?
look at your throttle cable make sure its set properly.
What RPM are you at when WOT?
