Never tried them, but holy carp! Avg weight 2.2 pounds? That's huge for a clam!

That's one huge steamer I think the only way I would eat one of those monsters was if it was ground up to make clam cakes.

They can give new meaning to clam chucking.<br />They are great in seafood chowder or sliced and<br />quick fried.<br />They can be found on the west coast.

You can get these at any sushi bar . . . Can't remember if I have had them, but think so.

We used to dig them all the time off Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, and off Dungeness and Sequim Bay on the Olympic Peninsula. They tend to be only accessible on a few really low tides every year.<br /><br /><br />They are really tasty if properly prepared, and an absolute blast to dig. You need the proper eqipment, lots of energy, and long arms.<br /><br />Moon Snails are really good as well--they are about the size of a grown man's fist, and are lots easier to get.

Razor clams are really good. Very tender
