Anyone else have H1N1 flu?

My opinion, I know what works for me and what does not. My choice.

I think the REAL issue was missed. PIGS not washing up after a restroom visit. If you are one of them-change your habits.

I've exited more than one restaurant when I noticed an employee doing his business and just exiting. No thanks. The same goes for offices and any other place that people congregate.

Flu is 90% transmitted air borne. I agree with you regarding the restroom visit habits but those are going to be other diseases.

Yup, but then there is that 10% that will get you everytime.

If the flu, or anything else, is rampant, in my office, I stay away. It's easy with the connectivity of today.

The problem for us is that we have PTO which combines sick leave and vacation so people don't want to use it when they are sick so they tend to want to come in. The company realized this and allows working from home at those times.

I don't know what vacation or sick time is.

Must be nice. I am on call 24/7/365 for my customers. More than one "vacation" has been spoiled by a customer emergency.

Accumulating either-that's a laugh! ROFLMAO.

Customers first.

I got the flu this year. It put me down for 3 days with 102 fever and I was weak for 4 more. I was popping tylenol like Pez.
Pretty sure I got it out among the New Years Eve crowds downtown. Oh well. Maybe I'll get the shot next year. I really like the idea that my immune system can become stronger on its own though...

You may be more immune to the strain you just got. That's the whole idea of immunizations. They allow your body's immune system to create anti bodies without getting sick.

That is the premise on getting flu shots in the first place. They inject dead flu viruses into your system and your body doesn't know they are already dead so it produces anti-bodies and goes to work protecting you. Hence your immune system is stronger now! So if you do get live flu viruses you already have the anti-bodies ready to fight it. Some folks say they get the flu from the flu shot. Well you may get sick because your body is making anti-bodies but there is no way the shot can have live flu viruses in it...period! They just can't live in the mix!

The family (my wife, myself and two kids) all had the flu last week. Funny thing is, wife and kids all had the shot... I did not and I was the last to get the actual flu out of the lot.

Re: Anyone else have H1N1 flu?

I caught it last week from a coworker who spread it to several of us in the office. Was full 3 days in bed and now a week on just dealing with the final stuffy nose symptom. Seems the flu shot I got a month ago didn't help me this year. My wife then got it from me but hers wasn't quite as bad. The kids seem to not be catching it from us.
Anyone else get unlucky?

I'll have to remember to stay away from your threads, I don't want to catch it.

Just got back from Arizona. We rented an estate for the week so the whole company was there less my pregnant assistant for a planning meeting. The company owner, the only one that didn't get sick got sick so finally succumbed.

An interesting note to the flu I did not know is that older people may have caught this or other strains years ago and are immune.

Yes the flu mutates, but the key words is same strain.

Interesting...

I may still get a flu shot, but doctors have told me the flu that it got in the early '80's was a variant of the H1N1.
I know it killed a couple of people in the neighborhood, (my neighbor mom included), and left me crawling to the bathroom because I would pass out if I stood up.

My parents both worked and for a couple of weeks, they could come home to find me passed out on the floor somewhere between the living room and the bathroom.

That may have been my super duty flu shot, but I may get an updated vaccination just for fun.
