Anyone else dieting?

I started on the second of January at 265#s. Im 6' 1" tall and large framed. Lost ten #s so far, back to where I was when I dieted last year and lost 25#s which I quickly gained back + ten #s. I didnt change my eating habbits so I gained it right back. I have decided to go for broke this time and am not going to stop till I get to 200#s and then by the grace of God I can change my eating habbits permanantly and stay there. I havnt been 200#s for about 20 years.

I figure if Nate from Texas can do it, I can do it. I mean,

:p Anything Nate can do, I can do better! :p

Im posting this so I will keep it up so I wont be shamed by anyone saying I couldnt follow through!

Re: Anyone else Dieting?

We're all on a diet. Some good and some bad. I'm not overweight. I exercise and weigh myself everyday. I think the weighing everyday is key to maintaining the weight loss. I'm up 5 lbs. right now and it will take me a week or more shift the weight.

I had to modify my diet again because of a high colesterol reading at my last physical. So its egg beater's and skim milk from now on.

I do reward myself on occasion (weekends). But I try to fast alot the next day.

I've found it's really not that hard to lose weight after you go hungry for the first week or two. I was surprised how quickly my stomach shrank and I just wasn't nearly as hungry as I used to be. I used to eat 2 sandwiches almost every day for lunch. Now I can barely finish one, sometimes I'm not even hungry for lunch. Counting calories seems to help, simply because I don't want to do anymore math in my head so I won't eat anything else. :D

My goal is now is 150...15 more pounds to go. When I started 180 was my goal, and that seemed unlikely. :) I actually weigh less now than I did in middle school.

I am trying(or rather hoping) to loose a few inches around my gut. At the same time I have been trying my hand at bread baking. Not a good combo. I made 2 loaves of sour dough french bread today. I have about a half of one loaf left.

Re: Anyone else Dieting?

My wife and I started dieting a year ago (she joined Weight Watchers). I dropped from 206lbs down to the mid 150s, and have added a little bit of upper body mass and some muscle tone. Mrs. BH357 is down over 80lbs, and looking VERY good.
Besides watching what I eat, I have been exercising every day (mostly Tae Bo, with some running). This past summer I got back into mountain biking (lots of fun, and doesn't really seem like working out). About 3 months ago, I started lifting weights twice a week.

A big congrats to heycods on your 40+lh weight loss. Heart problems run in my family, and this was a big motivator in my getting back into shape.

All I know is that Slimfast stuff doesn't work. I drank a can of that stuff after every meal and didn't lose a single pound!

I am trying to drop a few pounds myself to get ready for a school might as well try and max the pt test and go for the comidants list. to loose weight you got to eat 3500 calories less than you burn to loose one pound. here is a web site to tell you about how many calories you burn a day then subtract 500 for every pound you would like to loose a week. http://www.hussmanfitness.org/bmrcalc.htm

Re: Anyone else Dieting?

I'm 6'1" and 185 pounds. I'm pretty skinny overall except I'm getting a gut/love-handle thingy that lots of guys get. I normally wear 32" jeans. Now, 33" or 34" fit better.

The only thing I am doing to lose a little fat roll developing above my belt-line is I don't eat anything after 7:30pm. I just drink plenty of water at night to curb the hunger (doesn't help much, but water is good for losing weight anyhow).

I'm typically a late-night snacker who likes to eat lots of food right before bed so I get sleepy due to digestion. I sleep better that way. I am cutting out those late-night snacks and trying not to eat too much in between meals.

Re: Anyone else Dieting?

At 280 lbs 11 years ago, slipped a vertebra 10mm's and decided it was time to loose wait, no more biscuits and gravy (ok once in a while) no more sausage rolls ets. etc. today 180 lbs and I would like to drop another 10 lbs. I eat less at each meal than I did 10 years ago. I don't count calories or anything eat what I want, theres just some things I don't want anymore (well not as often :D )

Re: Anyone else Dieting?

Me too. I used to work in commercial construction and could eat whatever I wanted, whenever I felt like it. The job would easily keep me looking like a part time weight lifter. That was the old days... now my job has me behind a desk and driving around so there's not much exercise involved... I'm gettin' fat! I'm in the middle of converting one of the garages to an exercise room. I've done this before... 'slip' a little and then 'tune' myself back up. Getting started is the hard part but as soon as you start to feel a bit better (mentally or physically) working out becomes much more enjoyable.
