Any problems w/98 225 Mercury optimax?

We just bought a 22Mako full trans. w/ swim platform bracket and are seeking a power plant. We found a 225 optimax in the box and were wondering where we con find data on it's perfomance/history. Any tips on set up w/ this type of boat is appreciated

Thanks 12Ft, This is a boxed 98 model. I don't Know when they started making them but they seem to have had some problems as I read misc. postings. Do you know of a source where I can check for recalls or get details for this specific year? There should be 5 years of history on this motor and I would like to know about any headaches before I drop the money this weekend.<br />Thanks

The 3.0L optimax started production in 1997.<br />However very few made it to the showroom. All 97's were recalled and scraped. The 98 may not be much better. Alot of 98 & 99s are being rebuilt after only 400 hrs.
