Re: any paintballers here?
What he means when he wrote "chopping balls" is that when the balls are falling into the breach from the magazine, it is very easy to press the trigger before gravity carries the ball all of the way into the breach. If this happens, then the bolt coming forward will "chop" or cut the ball in half as the ball hasn't fallen all of the way. Then the paintball marker spits out half of a ball with lots of paint. The bolt and barrel are now soaked in paint. The next ball falls into the breach, then you pull the trigger, the bolt comes forward and the ball is shot out of the barrel, but now the ball is covered with paint from the last one, and that paint is friction on the barrel. So now your accuracy is off, distance is gone... and all of that friction in the barrel can lead to balls breaking in the barrel.

Moral of the story: carry an easy to use (preferably roll-up style rather than the rigid style) barrel squeegie. Be sure your barrel is easy to remove and run that squeegie through it. It's always a good idea to lube the barrel threads and barrel o-ring with lube, but follow the marker manufacturers recommendations.

Buy the full head helmet, and not the face mask, .... getting shot in the ear isn't fun either, there is more to protect than just your eyes.
