Re: Any home remedies for toothache?

As a last resort you can always take a trip to the emergency room if the pain gets that intense. Happened to my pop many times in the past. Bad tooth rears it's ugly head....Usually on a Sunday. The ER won't be able to do much (that's the beauty part) they don't want you sitting there either driving them crazy! So they send you home with a scrip for a good strong painkiller. Then they tell you to follow up with your dentist. (which you will do anyway.) Hope you feel better Stan.

Beat me to it, Tyme2, unless the dentist figures the abscess is an STD. Like the mentioned anusol, wrong end.

I feel your PAIN. I just had a root canal performed. I was given vicodin and antibioatics by my dentist. Vicodin is the ticket, no pain and I could finally sleep at night.

Thanks for all the responses folks: hardly slept last night, anbesol doesn't touch it but it does feel a little easier this morning.

For those not in the UK it might have helped if I'd explained that our dental system is in chaos at the moment and that finding a dentist is like finding a hen's tooth :D
We are paying the price for having a two-teir system (private or National Health Service. Basically our dentists get trained by the NHS and then realise they get more money going private so they elect to withdraw from the system. All the dentists in my area stopped taking new patients five years ago (the year before I moved down here).
To get to a dentist means returning to Scotland (a 300 mile round trip). First appointment he has available is in mid-March :(

The reason Flagyl was prescribed is because it is indicated: this is an anerobic infection so a combination therapy is being used: Flagyl 400mg TDS and Amoxicillin 500mg TDS.

Today I get a script filled for DF118 :D .............see you on the ceiling ;)
