Another year lookup question... Mariner 9.9M

Recently purchased a used Mariner 9.9M and haven't been able to determine the year. All I have been able to find online is 1981-?.

After reading through the forums I've read a lot about changing the impeller. I have no clue when the last it would have been changed. It does run good and I'm getting a good stream of water out the back. Should I go ahead and put in a new impeller to be on the safe side?

Also which repair manual should I pick up? What the difference between the two that are listed on the Mercury/Mariner page?

The Mariner manual is for Japanise engines(yours) and the Mercury/Mariner manuals is for US built.
