Another "what year is this" question...

I have a 70ish evinrude 9.9. The only numbers I can find on the engine other than specific part numbers, appear on a circular plate bonded to the cylinder. The number is 2299980. I can't seem to locate a match at any of the model/serial number websites. Any help would be appreciated.<br /> Thanks in advance.

I was in error...it is a Johnson engine, not an Evinrude...

Should be on that plug or the transom bracket. Might that ID plate be located at the tilt lock tab on the transom mount? It almost looks like something may have been painted over. I will have to strip it off and see....hmmmmm. Thanks for the help.............

I found where the ID plate used to be. The serial no. is 2299980. Any ideas?

That means that 2299981 was made just after that one and 2299979 was made just before.Need a model number.

I was afraid of that...would parts be interchangeable through the different models?
