another water in bilge question

I have a 19ft. aluminum 1988 Blue Fin Sportsman, I/O OMC 2.3L. I was getting some water in the bilge + a little water in ski locker during short day trips on the lake with not a lot of splashing, wet passengers, etc. I believe I corrected an issue where water was getting in near drain for livewell. I took it out again ran it on lake for a couple hours again very little splashing, etc. I tried going at different speeds as well as sitting still for a while. I kept ski locker open throughout to monitor water. ski locker was dry the whole time. I never ran the bilge pump during the 2 hours on the lake. When I pulled it out of the water I took out the drain plug and approx. 1 gallon of water came out. I can not find any other source of leak unless there is a loose rivet somewhere. I planned to take the boat for a week long fishing trip where the boat will be tied to the dock on the water all night. for 7 nights. I don't have an auto bilge pump. Obviously I can run the pump each night and each morning but should I be concerned with it on the water all night?

Re: another water in bilge question

Put the plug in and run a hose in the bilge, keeping it below the starter and trim pump and see where it comes out.

Have you checked your bellows both drive and shift cable for any cracks, holes or tears? You can also add an automatic switch to any bilge pump.

Visit the restoration section and do a search on iboats for "gluvit" yes, if it's an IO then you need to check the bellows......... if you have a livewell check the connections there too.

Re: another water in bilge question

The bellows have been checked, in fact the drive bellow was replaced due to a hole. So I should be ok there. I will look at adding an auto switch. I assume you are just talking a bout a 3-way switch that would be on-off-auto. I will do search about "gluvit" I have seen some posts regarding that and wondered how difficult it is to work with, cost, etc.
Thanks for the help.

I also did run hose in the bilge and did not find water coming out anywhere.

Then your next place to look is at the block/manifolds for signs of rust through and or cracks. Look inside with the engine running on muffs and see if you can find any leaks. Also check your bow eye for tightness.
