I have a 2008 Tahoe Q4S with the 4.3

I have read many posts on here about the Nautica Smart Tabs and am going to get me a pair. My question is I see where people have them mounted in different places so I took some pictures of the back of my boat and want to know where I should mount them.

Mount them in between the first and second chime 1/4" up from the bottom. there is no exact place but you know how leverage works right? don't mount them near the outdrive, I don't think you will get the results intended, my two cents, and that is where mine are mounted. do a search you will find some good pics.

Brad,
I mounted mine on ('04-Q4) on the transom body portion. there was no other real spot to do it since the tie downs would interfere as it looks with yours. I mounted them about 1" in from the center and 1/2" up from bottom to maximize a flat mounting surface since it's mostly curved. I was initially worrried it would not mount flush. With a second pair of hands it will mount flush with a slight bend in the mounting plate. No issues. It also helped mounting them that wide with the bow steer. The ladder on the starboard sits about 1/2" away from the unit, i just have to remind people to not stick their foot through the rung of the ladder and accidently put weight on the trim tab arm. all in all it worked out great! you wont be sorry, it is one of the cheapest ways to get more performance with less $ !

Brad, your best bet is to contact nauticus by phone. They will probably want you to send them a picture of the transom if they already don't know your model of boat. Get them to tell you exactly where they need to be mounted. If you go by what others have done, it may not be correct. These have to be mounted correctly or you will not get the performance intended from them.

The chime is the flat spot you see from the very outside of the hull inward about 3 to 4 inches. Normally on a flat/straight transom the tabs would be mounted right next to these or 3 to 4 inches in from each hull side.

The first picture you posted looks correct to me, because they are mounted 3 to 4 inches inward, right next to the chines. You want the tabs to be on the angle part of the hull. Again, contact nauticus so you are drilling once!! Good luck.
