Ok, Im starting to redo my 16' jon boat--new transom, paint, etc. Once I get the old transom out, do I have to rivet the brackets back in OR could I just use some stainless bolts w/ rubber backed washers?

Nope,...... Polyester resin will Fall right off in no time,....
And Epoxy resin, or Polyester resin by themselfs provide No Support what so ever....

TD has the Right answer,........ Glu-vit is the aluminum boat's Best Friend......

I wonder if most marine supply stores have the gluvet. I want a product I can go buy today and use today.

Re: another jon boat rivet question

Forget the rubber washers. You can use 3m 5200 shot into the holes and use that as a sealant for the bolt. When the stainless steel bolts are tight and have a dab of 5200 on them they will not come out.

Gluvit on the seams......

Here's the plan.... clean, tighten, seal, float..... enjoy!
