Similar to newbie to owning a boat but not boating. We have property with access to Sturgeon Bay and Lake Michigan so looking at larger pontoon. We have decided that we do want a tritoon and have been looking at Sylvan RPT and Premier PTX "hulls". Sylvan seems less costly but in looking through forums more than a few threads speaking about weld failures with the RPT tubes and the attendant difficulties in getting the repairs, which speaks to several levels of problems. For Premier I have yet to find anything negative about design or relability. We have been specifically looking at a Sylvan 8525 Mandalay withe the RPT option with a 150 and a Premier S series with PTX and also a 150. Both these are holdover 2013 inventory so there are some price breaks. Does have general or specific information that would help use decide between these two boats?

The RPT tubes arnt holding up very well

Agree w/ James. I believe Sylvan is finally resolving their issues, but I'd prefer another year or two just to make sure. You'll never go wrong w/ Premier. Good luck !!!

Maybe check out Manitou tritoons, they also offer a very nice product. They are made in Michigan too.
