In the Dakotas they do pretty much everything in or from their trucks.

Heck, I would do that too. Just be careful not to drive the car into the water!

I agree with one of the comments underneath the video...he definitely needs a rod holder.

If i tried something like that i would forget to put the car in park and have to fish it out of the water also.

The planer board style fishing is quite popular here in Michigan, but always behind a boat, you need to troll in order to keep the baits out there. I have considered trying this in the river mouths (pier heads) for both walleye and steelhead. keeping your bait in the area that you believe to be holding fish. I'm sure it will work well, but other fishermen would not enjoy this, it would intrude into others areas. I would need to pick my moments when no one else would be bothered. But with the current, I'm quite confident it would work well. And I wouldn't need to drive a car doing it.
The guy is creative, and willing to use his car doing it, which I wouldn't, but I give him credit for making the effort and then sharing it with us.

Or is it just me that get old and grumpy?

I vote old and grumpy. This guy seems to knwo what he's doing as a fisherman.

Back in the day, friends of mine would waterski in the surf behind a pick-up truck driving down the beach....
