What was that? An Irrigation channel? It was clearly man-made, uniformly wide, road alongside, straight...

Unless his fishin pole was 20' long, which it didnt look like, how did he manage to not pull the lure into the weeds?

i think that is what the big pink thing is on the line. the "planer board" he called it. tracks through the water and keeps the lure out to the side.

I'm guessing that ditch/channel had enough of a curve to it???

Planer board is designed to pull your line out to the side of the boat. They come in port and starboard configurations. It allows multiple lines to be run out the back of a boat while trolling. It is perfect for what he was doing.

Mostly likers in the comments on YT. Some act like it will catch on, no pun intended. It would be amusing to see more than one car doing this, and what happens when one comes up on someone else's rig stopped while they are retrieving, or just trolling in the opposite direction :uncomfortableness:

Maybe I should've said pointless and unsafe instead. I've learned that it's best, while driving, to watch mostly ahead, be it on a public or dirt road. Not to mention the unnecessary fish handling back and forth, just for the kick of having your 15 minutes of fame...

Or is it just me that get old and grumpy?

Is it going to count if I try from a Cessna that will barely skim above the water surface, as far as I filmed?

Well, thinking of it, it could a bit too fast... Maybe hanging from a 'copter with a speargun would look "cooler"?

Believe it if you want, but I don't. Musky that size puts up a little fight. Filmed from dash cam. He's out, changes rod hands thru window (giving lots of slack) and has fish back in a couple seconds with a live-less fish. Yes, I know about editing, buts that's ridiculous.

I'm sorry but I seriously don't see what the problem is. He didn't hurt anybody or tear up anything. He caught the fish, displayed his method and released it again. What was so wrong? I'm not going to try it, but it wasn't as objectionable as the OP lead on... Maybe I just don't know the rules about fishing...

the video is sped up during the time he is out of the car. if you look at the thing on his mirror, you can see it move around in the wind very quickly. also the audio cuts out.

he was out there a while longer then it looks in the video.

I think the kid is rather smart and I think he proves that there are more than one way to catch a fish, let alone a musky (the fish of a thousand cast's). Unless he's on a public road, I give him thumbs up on creative fishing. Sure beats the tourney guys and what they do to a boat launch and the waters they ply during tournaments. I live in Michigan and have only had bad experiences with that later, but he's one sharp young man. Now Musky season is closed here, not sure where he was or when this occurred, but he's kinda cool in my book.
