Did not want to hijack my brother Kenny B's post. This story flew under the radar nationally... I wonder why? Seems like Mayor Ray is up to his same old incompetent self...<br />

<br />New Orleans Rejected Company's Offer To Remove Flooded Cars <br /><br />The Associated Press,<br /><br />March 19, 2006, 3:15 PM CST <br /><br />NEW ORLEANS — A Texas company says it offered to pay this city to take tens of thousands of flooded cars off the streets and Mayor Ray Nagin refused the offer.<br /><br />K-and-L Auto Crushers of Tyler, Texas, a major car crushing company, offered in October to rid the city of its flooded cars and pay 100 dollars per flooded car. That's according to K-and-L's Dan Simpson.<br /><br />He says the city held back because it was apparently concerned that it did not have the legal right to remove the abandoned cars.<br /><br />Nagin's press office, most of whom had traveled with him to Atlanta for a mayoral forum, did not immediately respond to an e-mail request seeking comment on K-and-L's offer.<br /><br />But the Nagin administration is working on a contract to rid the cityscape of the cars at a cost of 23 (m) million dollars over another six months.<br />

Let's see... what should we do? Let a company pay me $100 per car or pay somebody else $23 million? It's a hard decision.<br /><br />No wonder Mayor Ray wants the votes from out of townees.

How exactly can you gin up false sympathy without an easily presented photo-op.<br /><br />What a leader, he doesn't know if he has the authority to remove abandoned cars on public property? I now know where to dump my unwanted vehicles, New Orleans. <br /><br />Remove the cars? Heck NO.

Aha, I plead guilty to incompetency in the area of online research.<br /><br />I suspect they'll pay to remove the cars because there's reimbursement from said gvmt. for decontamination.
