Where do you all keep your anchors? and anchor chains? On the front of the boat, i have a hole where the anchor rope goes in, I can tie the rope inside, but what about the anchor and chain? where do you keep it?

it's a 24.55ft Bayliner, here is a pic of the front, no place for it. Actually, I dont have an anchor yet either, still seeing what I need. I knda like the folding grapnel style
Re: anchor storage on cuddy

Bandit -- we had a 19' Bayliner cuddy when I was in high school. If I remember right, we stored the anchor & chain under the cushions inside the bow. Yours is considerable bigger than what ours was so I'm thinking you have much more space available to you.

Personally, we didn't use the anchor that much - so putting it under the cushions inside the cabin wasn't that much of a hassle.

Of course your situation may be completely different.

Sean

Usually that style has a windlass to remotely raise and lower the anchor. The anchor stays hung out over the bow or locked into place by a channel. I would suggest looking around at other boats of your type and see how they do it.

On my 27'er, I have a factory built in deck compartment. It makes for a pain to drop and retrieve having to go through the cabin, into the front berth, and through the berth window, then back through again. Usually I'll just jump over the front of the bridge and slide down to the bow deck. I know a windlass would be great, but the price of being lazy is costly.

Good Luck............SS

Bandit,

Just ran out to snap a pic of my set up to show you. From your picture it looks like you can do the same. My anchor and it's held snug by the bow cleat. Some use chains and a windlass system. This works fine for me as I rarely use the anchor.

My son has a Bayliner Trophy and has a channel on the bow that the anchor sets in. It looks very similar to Jeff's when in the channel but is secured in fairly tight so in rough water it doesn't move around.
