Re: An Original Theory on WMD

if ya really wish to scare the jeebers outta yourself read a book titled Biohazard by ken alibek. its rather terrifing, it only covers the rooskie aspect and just lightly touches on the US side of Bio weapons, but our program mirrored theirs even though both programs are against the law and treaties.
and it was happening as late as 95 or so and most likly is still happening. its a very very good book.
couple that with the fact the author was the head of the russian bioweapons program that defected to the US in 95 makes for fairly credible reading.

Hmmmm, getting closer! Certainly we had a pesticide plant out there operating under licence from a major US Corporation.

Can also confirm that in 1988/89 the Royal Navy were training the Iraqi Navy (such as it was) in various techniques (we kept the good stuff to ourselves).

Some humourous things to point out:

1. The Iraqi Navy guys that I was working with all had different uniforms, apparently it just depended on what was available.

2. Their rank badges were velcroed on. When I asked about this it turned out it was due to the rate of losses they were experiencing in the war with Iran. Promotions were almost a weekly occurence! Several of the teams I was training were promoted during the few weeks they were with me.

3. When the Allies decided to descend upon Saudi and liberate Kuwait in the first Gulf War the UK Ministry of Defence ordered up their desert combat kit from storage. There wasn't any! It had all been sold several months previously to.......drum roll please.........Iraq

4. After GW1 Saddam wanted his palaces rebuilt to the original splendour. One of the main palaces in Baghdad needed totally reglazed with thousands of windows. Saddam contracted out the job to a firm from Southern Ireland. They had a heck of a job finding a manufacturer that could supply all that glass to the standard required. It took them quite a while (a buddy of mine was the glazing contract manager) but they did find one in the end........in Israel :D and yes, the Israelis quite happily supplied the glass............. at a huge mark-up :D

I've often wondered if Saddam ever realised that he had Jewish windows ;) :p
I answered your question as best i can, Rodbolt. If my answer is inadequate to you, there is nothing i can post or say that will help you. My answer will forever be inadequate to you.

And if you choose to continue to defend a tyrant and an enemy of my country durring war time, that's your right. But i'll not contribute to the insanity by legitimately debating guilt or innocence of a mad man.
We will just have to agree to disagree.

Re: An Original Theory on WMD

we will wait for the kangaroo court we set up to try him for any crimes, I wont. I am not defending saddam in anyway. but if you dont try to understand the culture and peoples and our past relations with them your doomed for a quagmire like we are into.
I just hope they do not execute saddam after the convictions on the first charge, the way the US set up the courts they can. I hope they carefully try him on all the charges. I would like to know what he knows and who supported his nightmarish regime and why. but dead dictators tell no tales and dont embaress folks that seem to be on the moral high ground.
but like I say, saying he gassed his own people is a catchy fun thing to do, incites folks to react without thinking but its terribly missleding to outright wrong.
its like saying the trail of tears was a trail to a relocation camp for US citzens.
the only thing the kurds and saddam shared was they happened to be born in the same geographical border.
does not excuse his actions but they were rebelling and he did squash the rebellion and we knew it as the US encoraged the rebellion.
the events during WWII started the process of bombing civilian non military targets, we became better than the rest at it. from our standpoint it was justified, I am just glad I did not live in tokyo, nagasaki or hiroshima during the 45 time frame. however I do believe causualties both civilian and military were lower than if we had invaded on the ground. plus can ya imagine the brouha if truman had the bomb and did not use it and after the war that news had been leaked. I bet ole truman was up a night or two with that decision.
but ya gotta admit, the planning for this so called war, its not a formally declared war, was and is incredibly poor.

stan
best I can tell the "pesticide" plant was paid for by the UK and under liecense of the US. the test results of the gas used in one of the 87 attacks on the kurds showed it was a UK manufactured chemical. not that it matters.

the israli thing was funny,
kinda like when the ayatolla khomeni was purchasing missles and arms from isreal to use against iraq, when asked if he knew were they were made he replied he did not care as long as they worked.
arab killing arab with jewish weapons, aint that a hoot :)
