Re: Amp rating switch question

unless you can list the wires and terminals as right top, right middle, right bottom, left top, left middle, left bottom and what the wires tested as (its not a ground unless you know its connected to ground as the manual wire to a pump reads nearly 0 ohms when tested to ground) we can not tell you how it use to work. So you can either do that or just rewire it to a simple one battery with auto/off/manual options. Kinda seems odd that the second pump is connected to the battery but doesnt have a manual function which would be expected on a 2 pump system.

Re: Amp rating switch question

Thank you very much, I think the second one (bilge pump)is wired to a manual switch which is also connected to the bilge light. I was wondering why they did that. It would make sense if you wanted to see into the bilge in a case of taking on water. The grounded brown wire (on the first bilge pump in question)was still grounded even after i removed it from the pump, so who knows... it was jumpered to another brown wire the went under the helm somewhere (i guess ill figure that out when i find out what else doesnt work. head plumbing under there). I think you have given me enough to go on. I thank you all again for being so generous with your advice as always this forum and its participants are the best.

Re: Amp rating switch question

You guys are freaking awesome. The brown wire did used to go to the 2nd bilge pump. (the one i was not working on) What threw me was that i saw almost a dead short to grd. I think it settled at 1 ohm. If you didnt tell me the pump will show up as a ground i would have been chasing this for hours. I connected it with terminals running up and down in mind not across like i started to and now both pumps work with the manual switch thrown and the one pump works in automatic with the flapper activated, the second pump the flapper works off battery with no switch required. Thank you all very much again. I think i better stay out of the dash now that everything works. I was changing out a breaker that the plastic collar broke on and it escalated to me changing all of them to metal ones so they look uniform. Some terminals came off and it went south from there. I need to stop being so anal.
