I have a 72 starcraft with a 72 American trailer mfg boat trailer. My problem, the model tag is gone. info on this so I can register the trailer would be most appreciated.

I've seen some others post in here that they had to classify theirs as 'home made' and have a VIN tag made and bolted to the trailer. I had a Starcraft boat with (I think) a Tee Nee trailer. I looked all over it for any kind of serial number or other ID; nothing. I fought with the good folks at the Ohio DVM and they finally decided to use my SSN on the paperwork. I moved to another state about a year later

Find out what your registering authority requires to register. Go in person.

It may involve weight slips. It may involve a visit from the local police department. It may involve, as mentioned above, being issued a new VIN plate for you to attach to the trailer.

Having paperwork for the trailer from the previous owner would negate all the above.
