Am I getting the right part?

I have a 1986 Procraft 150V

Has a Yamaha ProV 150F
6J9 L

I am having issues with overheating at idle, I have been informed that this means my impeller needs replaced. I am going to order this from iBoats, but I need a verification I am getting the right parts for my boat. There are a few to choose from.

Sierra or Mallory, with or without housing. I am guessing it would be smart to go with the housing and replace as many parts as possible. How do I know if I need Sierra or Mallory? Or are they just brand names with no other differences?

brand names dont mean any thing but some people swear by them with that said looking at the kits you posted i would go with the sierra kit it has more in the kit than the other replace as much as you can when you have it apart

I replaced the water pump on my 1999 Yamaha 90C with the "kit", which has everything except the green plastic pump housing(was pretty much like new anyway). I personally always try to get genuine Yamaha parts, but the Sierra and Mallory kits may be fine. You may need to inspect or replace your thermostat and pressure control valve, which could also be causing your "overheating at idle". May as well do everything at the same time, then you know what you've got. Good Luck!

Since I wasn't clear I will clarify the idle overheat.

Previous owner (trusted friend) said that it will not overheat with the cover off and running around the lake all day. But if you try to idle around, (trolling, docking, etc) it will.

I started it in driveway, with the muffs on. It is moving water, because water is coming out the little hole on the right side of the motor (technical name?). After about 8-12 minutes at idle the overheat alarm came on.

I asked in a seperate thread about my rebuild if there was any way to be sure it was the water pump that needed replaced, to no avail. If anyone else has thoughts let me know.

The water pump, thermostat and pressure control valve all need to be in good operating condition. A couple of weeks ago my alarm went off for the first time ever. When I replaced the thermostat and PCV they both had a good bit of calcium/corrosion deposits on them, probably causing them to not work correctly. Your water pump could be still pumping but insuffient due to wear....hard to prove or disprove water pump's efficiency....most folks just replace every few years, depending on type and length of service. I would stick to the Yamaha stuff, have heard of problems with other after market.

Any good websites to buy good Yamaha parts? I was just choosing the two I mentioned above because they are sold on this website...
