Just spoke with the local marine dealer who acted like I was crazy for simply wanting a temp gauge on my '71 60hp Johnson. Am I crazy? I just want an idea of where the temperature is running. I know a water pressure gauge is a better bet, which I plan to do in the future, but for now I just want a temp gauge - just curious what temp it's running at. Can't hurt right?

Well the marine dealer made is seem like a huge hassle and wasn't any help.

Can somone give me the model number/name of a Teleflex temp gauge and sending unit that you used to do this on a similar motor? Because this is an older engine, has no water overboard hoses to connect into (would have to drill and tap a hole), I would simply like to mount the sender on the head (I've read posts of others doing this, not as accurate but easier to install).

See pix of my motor at this post: http://forums.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=28;t=041838;p=1#000000

Thanx for your help!
