I know all the problems, but i have found aluminum intakes for bbc that have brass inserts in the water side to prevent corrosion. One problem, I need one for a sbc. does anyone know where to find one? who makes them etc... any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Being down the road in Elmira, have to ask, "Are you planing to boat in salt or brackish water?". If just fresh water, don't need the bronze or anodized.

+1
I've run standard aluminum intakes on other boats for years in fresh water with no issues.

Re: Aluminum intake?

I'm just curious. What benefit does an aluminum intake provide over the stock iron?

Re: Aluminum intake?

Much better flow=increased power, and prob half the weight.

Ayuh,.... There's 2 Choices for mounting the T-stat housing on that manifold....
As noted in your thread,...
Just use the forward facing holes....

And last but not least, lets not forget that outboards are made of aluminum, and they last just fine.

some big differences there... different alloy and also, with an I/O the majority of the engine is iron... that means that an aluminum manifold acts as a sacrifical anode in galvanic corrosion...

I actually run pencil anodes screwed into my intake, heads and exhaust manifolds now (all are aluminum)...

And most outboards auto drain removing any conductor between the metals.
