I am in the process of buying a 16 foot aluminum fishing boat with trailer. I would rather the trailer be a roller trailer rather than a bunk trailer for ease in loading and unloading the boat. I have been told by the boat dealer that they do not recommend using rollers on aluminum boats because the rollers can cause damage to the hull by denting the hull. Is this true? Does anyone have any experience with this that can give me some advice? It seems to me that if there are enough rollers on which to distribute the weight it shouldn't matter.

Re: Aluminum Boat

Hi Rpdavis. Ask the dealer if he would Replace the wood bunk boards with roller bunk boards. It would increase cost, but would probably support better than the standard roller type trailers. Iceman...
