Hi everyone, this board seems like a good place to get some help.
I have a 14' lund that im doing some work on and when i removed the flotation foam from under the rotton plywood floor i discovered the alum hull has quite a bit of pitting (from salt water being traped under the foam i think), there is only one pin hole but parts are very deeply pitted. what is the best fix for this? jb weld?
thanks for any help in advance

Re: Alum repair

Welcome to iboats . Most of us with tinnies are using gluvit inside our hulls to coat the rivets and seams .A 2 pound kit is plenty for a boat your size doing just tht but you may need more to coat the entire hull inside . Gluvit is a 2 part epoxy heres a link to it in the iboats store so you can read up on it some :D.

Re: Alum repair

That honestly depends on the condition of the paint on it now if its peeling or flaking then yes going to bare aluminum is a good idea . On the other hand if its just faded and ugly then simply sanding and repainting will work just fine . The paint you can go several ways with from full fledged marine paint such as interlux all the way down to the cheap option which would be rustoleum. There are guys here with Tinnies who have gone both ways . My boat wqas stripped and I am doing rustoleum . Northbeach I am pretty sure used the interlux . You can see my boat by clicking the link in my post and Northbeaches is in the completed forum just below this one.
