Re: Alum. boat. Please help

I dont know about the cost and I'm sure some one with WAAAAY more experience than me will give some good advice but from what I have learned is that you need some kind of etching primer. I dont think that you need to remove all the paint but remove anything that is loose and sand out the what you can. There are a lot of threads on here about painting aluminum. I had a thread awhile ago called "The $50 paint job" There is a little bit of good info on there and there is link to a site with a lot of good prep info.

Hope it all goes well!

pressure wash, if it was painted before, light sanding, remove any loose paint. i have used good ole rustoleum on many aluminum and glass boats, with excellant results.

Re: Alum. boat. Please help

Search the forum for "aluminum paint" and you'll find a wealth of knowledge.

Other advice:
1. What TD said. Add a little vinegar to the water when pressure washing.
2. If you have any leaks, Gluvit.
3. Use self etching primer.
4. You'll need more paint than you think.

Good luck, post pictures!
