altitude woes

i have a 15 hp mercury that willnot run well at altitude. i live in Ca. and travel to 7000ft to fish.<br /><br />I know the problem is carb, but can't seem to find help.<br /><br />any answer or ideas would be valued.

Hi Fishnut,<br />Do you have the correct high speed jet in your carb.<br />Sea level to 5000ft=.072<br />5000 to 7500ft=.068<br />7500 to 10,000ft=.066<br />these are for the WMC-49 carb check the year<br />of motor to see about the right jets.<br />You will have to adj the idle needle also.<br />post back if you have more questions.<br />...have fun...corm
